Feeling Masculine Fire on Beltane

There’s something about Beltane that can feel distant for parts of me at times.

Fire festivals, fertility rites, dancing around poles… it’s easy to see it as just something ritualistic and historical.

I can sense another lifetime that is centered around a curiosity as well as full-blown participation and reverence.

But if i strip it back, Beltane is about one thing:

Life moving forward.

Not in theory. Not in your head.

In your body. In your choices. In what you’re willing to step into.

Traditionally, men were the ones tending the fire, moving the cattle, protecting the land, engaging in the physical reality of survival and growth. It wasn’t performative. It was necessary.

And that’s where this still speaks to us.

Because a lot of modern men are stuck in a strange place:

thinking a lot… feeling a lot…

but not always moving.

Beltane doesn’t ask you to be more spiritual. It asks you to be more alive.

That can look like:

– Starting something you’ve been overthinking

– Getting your body involved (movement, nature, sweat)

– Creating or building something tangible

– Letting yourself feel desire without immediately analyzing it

– Taking responsibility for what you want to grow in your life

There’s also something important here about fire.

Fire isn’t just warmth.

It’s direction. It’s intention. It’s energy that actually does something.

A lot of men either suppress that fire…

or let it burn in scattered, unfocused ways.

Beltane is a moment we choose our fire on purpose.

What are you giving energy to right now?

And is it actually building anything?

This isn’t necessarily about going back in time or recreating old rituals.

It’s about remembering that being a man isn’t just about thinking clearly or feeling deeply.

It’s also about engaging with life directly.

Not perfectly. Not all at once.

Just honestly.

If there’s something in you that’s been waiting for “the right moment”…

This is as good a marker as any to stop waiting and step forward.

Light something.

Start something.

Move something.

Let it be real.

Feel the part or parts of you that feel stuck or overwhelmed. I am in constant contact with those parts myself. Some days they are front and center others they are held while I hold the fire.

You just can’t will yourself to this place without also taking that trailing edge with you and loving it along the way.

Beltane is the symbolic fire of the potentiality and inevitability within us all. It is the light and heat of our authentic and Divine Self.

It reminds us that we go forward with the grace of the present while burning away what no longer serves that movement.

🔥❤️💪🏼
