The Inner Mother To Embodied Queen - Free To Be She Chapter Seven Excerpt

The Mother lives in the feminine field as both an ache and archetype. She is the one we run toward for comfort and away from for our freedom. She births us and then becomes usually the first face of the Divine we meet or the first wound we must eventually forgive and reconcile.

In the evolutionary journey of the feminine, the Mother holds one of the most tender, complex, and sacred initiations. She is both personal and cosmic, both human and holy. Her shadow is the devourer who consumes identity in the name of love; her gift is the nurturer who gives life without losing herself.

This chapter explores the inner terrain where your birth mother’s template, your inner mother part, your Divine Mother connection and the emergence of your Queen essence weave together…sometimes in harmony, often in tension, until they reconcile into one living current of love.

The Birth Mother Template: Inheritance, Imprinting & Internalization

Every woman carries the imprints of her mother, not only the personal one who birthed her but the lineage of mothers who came before her. These are the women who taught us what love looks like, what care feels like, and what safety means. They also taught us where love ends and is blocked… in silence, control, comparison, or neglect.

Our relationship with our mother is the first mirror for our relationship with the Divine Feminine. Before we could know the Mother as a Source of Love, we knew her as human: flawed, afraid, and often carrying generations of unmet need. The process of inner mother healing asks us to face this first reflection with eyes open and heart soft. To see where the mother was more devourer than nurturer, more dependent than guide, and how those dynamics live on in us. Or where she was more neglectful than present, or more competitive than supportive.

Our birth mother is our first initiation into relationship and intimacy. Her heartbeat is the first rhythm our nervous system entrains to. Her womb, her moods, her unmetabolized trauma, all form the earliest atmosphere of our becoming and gestating.

Whether your birth mother was tender or distant, selfless or controlling, her energetic field imprinted you far beyond genetics. Her voice probably became the Inner Mother voice inside_, the internalized matrix that shaped your early sense of safety, worth, and belonging.

If she was anxious, your Inner Mother may echo worry. If she was dominant, your Inner Mother may control. If she was submissive, your Inner Mother may over-give. If she was repressed, your Inner Mother may fear desire.

This internalized mother energy lives in the emotional body, often shaping how you relate to others, how you nurture, and even how you connect with the Divine.

Or, a polarization was created ‘against’ her template that goes to the opposite of her expression or her tendencies by rebellion and rejection. In this case…if she was anxious, your Inner Mother may be overly trusting. If she was dominant, your Inner Mother may be passive or even submissive. If she was over-giving, your Inner Mother may be frugal and cold.

As you turn inward, you begin to meet this one who lives inside you as your Inner Mother. Again, she may first appear as a mirror of your birth mother: the same tone, the same anxieties, the same opinions about how to be a woman, partner, or parent.

But as you listen and allow her voice expression, she begins to differentiate. You realize that she has been holding the survival wiring of your childhood, doing her best to mother your Inner Child and Teenager with the limited template she inherited.
