Awakening at a Young Age

To those who awakened young ~

There is a unique experience that comes with feeling the call toward healing, spirituality, and introspection at an early age. While others around you were discovering themselves through life, you may have found yourself asking deeper questions about suffering, purpose, consciousness, and love. You felt something stirring inside you that wanted to understand more, heal more, and become more.

It gifts you wisdom, sensitivity, and an intimacy with energies others might not see. It teaches you to feel beneath the surface of things and to seek meaning where others might not yet look.

It may come in more subtle ways, too. Trying to fit into the world around you but not quite knowing why it doesn’t feel right. Wanting to feel and help others while your own heart and soul remain unknown even to yourself.

This can come with an underlying loneliness. A feeling of standing between worlds.

This longing can take many forms. For some, it becomes a search for peak experiences. A belief that the next awakening, the next ceremony, the next relationship, the next transmission, or the next breakthrough will finally bring them home. There can be a constant reaching toward something just beyond the horizon, convinced that the answer is waiting in the next expansion.

For others, the search takes a different shape. After being hurt enough times, they retreat into safety. They create a carefully tended inner world where nothing can disturb them too deeply. Growth becomes contained. Life becomes observed rather than fully lived. The heart remains protected, but it also remains partially hidden.

And for some, there is simply a quiet feeling of being lost. Not knowing what home is, only knowing that they haven’t found it. Moving through life with an ache that is difficult to name, searching for belonging in places, people, achievements, identities, or circumstances that never quite satisfy.

Underneath each of these paths, I often feel the same longing. The longing to return to ourselves.

For much of my life, I have felt both deeply connected to this world and strangely apart from it. I could participate in friendships, relationships, work, and community, yet there was often a subtle feeling that I wasn’t fully home here. Like a part of me remembered something beyond this reality and was constantly searching for it. I think many awakening souls know this feeling. The sense of being here, but never quite feeling of here.

For me, that ache was mostly projected onto the desire for a romantic relationship. I felt for so long that it was my purpose in life to deeply love in that specific way. The way others feel called to have children or devote themselves to a particular career, I felt called toward sacred union.

Yet as I grew and healed and changed, I’ve come to feel a deeper sense of my purpose here. To serve those who carry that same longing for love. To cultivate a deeper relationship with themselves, with others, and with the Divine.

What I’ve been discovering lately is that our longing for home can become projected onto many things. Spirituality. Healing. Relationships. Purpose. Safety. Even our own growth. We can spend years searching for the feeling that one more experience, one more answer, or one more layer of healing will finally allow us to arrive.

And while all of these things can offer beautiful gifts, none of them can fully provide what the heart is ultimately seeking.

For the deepest home is not outside of us.

It is the home field within.

The place inside that holds the essence of who we are. The place where all of our parts, even the ones we have rejected, hidden, outgrown, or forgotten, can return and belong. The place where our grief, innocence, longing, fear, joy, and tenderness are welcomed rather than managed. The place where the Divine can meet every aspect of our humanity with love.

I’ve come to feel that healing is less about becoming someone new and more about gathering ourselves back together. It is the process of bringing home the parts that wandered away in search of safety, love, validation, or belonging. It is allowing the parts in shadow to be seen, the younger selves to be held, and the fears we’ve carried for lifetimes to finally be placed into the hands of something greater than ourselves.

As these parts come home, there’s a palpable shift. The longing begins to soften because we’ve found a place where we no longer needed to earn belonging because belonging was already there.

And from that place, something beautiful starts to emerge. The home we have been trying to create externally begins to form around us. Relationships feel more aligned. Opportunities resonate more deeply. The people and experiences that truly nourish us become easier to recognize and receive.

Perhaps this is one of the deeper invitations for those of us who awakened young.

Not to stop growing or to stop seeking deeper truths. But also not to hide inside spirituality, healing, or safety.

It is not about transcending our humanity, nor is it about endlessly searching outside ourselves for what is missing. It is about bringing every part of ourselves home and allowing the Divine to meet us there.

From that place, life stops feeling like something we need to escape, fix, or figure out.

It becomes something we can finally participate in.

The home we have been searching for is not waiting somewhere in the distance. It is being built within us, one part, one feeling, and one act of self-love at a time.

And from that place, the outer home has a way of finding us too.
